Between 2015 and 2018, 61 elections – 30 of them to elect a president – are due to be held in 32 African countries.

 To avoid the manipulation, fraud and violence that ensue from curtailed elections, FIDH is gathering together dozens of African and international civil society organisations and popular movements as part of a coalition called #MyVoteMustCount. Together we are demanding that governments respect peoples’ legitimate right to choose their representatives during a regular process of free, transparent and peaceful elections. 

To achieve this, the #MyVoteMustCount coalition is mobilising to take action on the ground and to engage in political advocacy in advance of each vote between now and 2018.
